Description
The road bridge at Trewerry Mill is a structure that may have medieval origins and was last rebuilt in the late 19th century. It is constructed from killas stone and concrete. This single carriageway bridge carries the Newlyn-Trerice road over the Lappa River, featuring three stilted arches: a round-headed central arch and two segmental side arches. To reduce the humpback, the bridge was later extended with two additional segmental arches on either side. The road surface is formed with in-situ concrete kerbs that support iron-pipe railings, and there are coarse weak concrete piers at each end. The arches on the upstream side have been rebuilt using in-situ concrete. This picturesque bridge showcases multiple phases of alteration, including early work in mass concrete.
