Description
This is a boundary cross, now relocated to the churchyard, situated 20 meters west of the west tower of the Church of St Ildierna in Lansallos. It dates back to the medieval period and is made of stone, featuring a Latin cross with splayed arms and chamfered corners. The cross has incised designs on both faces and currently stands at a height of 0.8 meters and a width of 0.8 meters across the cross head, although it is partly buried underground. In 1896, Langdon noted that the cross was lying on the ground and highlighted its unique shape, describing it as the largest incised Latin cross discovered in Cornwall at that time, with dimensions of 5 feet high, 8 inches deep, 2 feet 6 inches wide at the cross head, and 11 inches wide at the shaft. The original site of the cross was at SX 17061576.
