Description
Caradon Villa is a house, likely built as part of East Caradon Mine in the late 19th century, with few later alterations. It is constructed of granite rubble, featuring granite quoins and dressings. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, complete with ridge and hip tiles, and there are stacks on the sides. The building has a double depth plan, with a central entrance accessed through a porch. The principal rooms are located to the front left and right, while service rooms are at the rear, all heated by side stacks. There is a single-storey unheated service room in a lean-to on the left side.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front, featuring 12-pane sash windows with flat granite lintels. A later 19th-century central gabled porch is glazed and adorned with bargeboards and a finial. The door has margin glazing and an inner panelled door with an overlight. To the left, there is an attached single-storey lean-to with a 12-pane sash window at the front. The right side of the building is rendered. The rear and interior have not been inspected.
