Description

Tamerton Bridge is a road bridge that spans the upper reaches of the River Tamar. It was built in the mid-19th century, likely soon after 1847, when the medieval bridge was reconstructed following a flood in July of that year. This is a County bridge, probably designed by W Pease, the County Surveyor. The bridge is constructed of slate rubble with granite dressings and features a single span with a wide segmental arch made of dressed granite voussoirs and a keyblock. There is a granite stringcourse and a parapet with granite coping, and the abutments are slightly advanced at either end.
