Description
Arundell is a house with origins dating back to the 17th century, which was enlarged in the early to mid-19th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed from painted stone rubble and features a bitumenised slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The main range has a gable end stack on the right with a rubble shaft, while the front range has a hipped slate roof with a stack on the left side.
The layout likely began as a two-room plan house, with each room heated by a gable end stack. The front parallel range, added in the early to mid-19th century, consists of a one-room plan with a staircase at the right end and a room on the left heated by a stack on the left side. There is a 19th-century porch located at the angle of the main range.
The exterior presents an asymmetrical two-storey front. The front range features a porch with a pitched roof, a two-panelled door on the left side, and a 20th-century window at the front. A 19th-century 12-pane sash window with a cambered arch lights the staircase to the right, and there is a 12-pane sash window on the first floor to the left. The main range, set back to the right, has a 20th-century four-light casement window at ground floor and a 19th-century 16-pane sash window at first floor. The interior is not accessible.
