Description
Trelean Farmhouse, dating to the 1830s, is a double-depth farmhouse with a symmetrical three-window south front. The front is built of coursed dressed elvan stone with granite dressings. It has a hipped roof covered with scantle slates and wide eaves, brick chimneys on the side walls and at the rear, and cast-iron ogee gutters. The internal layout features two equal-sized front parlours flanking a central entrance hall leading to an axial passage. Behind the right-hand room is a stair hall, with two rear service rooms – likely a kitchen/living room on the left and a pantry on the right. A later 19th-century lean-to has been added to the rear. The front has a central doorway with a pair of three-panel doors and an overlight, flanked by blind window openings above. Original twelve-pane hornless sash windows are a prominent feature. A six-panel door with flush beaded panels and an overlight is present on the left-hand front, alongside further twelve-pane sashes. The right-hand wall features a four-panel door, a tall twelve-pane stair sash to the left of the doorway, and sixteen-pane sashes to the right. The interior is reported to be largely unaltered since the house was built and is said to contain original internal joinery, including the staircase. Adjoining garden walls, gate piers, and a gate are also part of the listed group value.
