Trembraze Farmhouse With Outbuilding Adjoining To East

Trembraze Farmhouse, dating from the late 17th century, is a farmhouse and stables located in St Keverne. The structure is built from whitewashed rubble stone with upper walls made of cob, and features a slurried slate roof with hipped ends. There are brick chimney stacks positioned to the left of the right-hand hipped end. The farmhouse has a single depth, three-cell layout with a wide hallway and consists of four unheated rooms. A staircase projects further to the rear, creating a T-shape.

The building stands two storeys high and has an asymmetrical five-window front. On the ground floor, there is a wide eight-pane sash window to the left of a partly glazed 19th-century door, and a wide four-light 20th-century casement window without glazing bars to the right. The first floor features two four-pane sashes, a two-light casement with glazing bars, another four-pane sash, and a further two-light casement with glazing bars. The roof has been raised at the eaves and ridge.

Inside, there is a partly blocked fireplace with a chamfered timber lintel in the room to the right of the hallway, which was originally the kitchen. The late 17th-century staircase has wavy flat balusters and a moulded rail, although it has been partly renewed. Some earlier 18th-century timbers remain, while the original roof timbers have been removed.

Adjoining the farmhouse to the east is an outbuilding that was originally a stable and loft, with a cartshed projecting forward from the left-hand end. This outbuilding is constructed from rubble stone with cob upper walls and has an asbestos slate roof with gabled ends. The openings feature brick segmental arches with stone keys.
