Description

ST KEVERNE SW 72 SE 3/114 Trembraze Farmhouse with outbuilding adjoining to east II

Farmhouse and stables. Circa late C17. Whitewashed rubble stone with upper walls of cob. Slurried slate roof with hipped ends. Brick chimney stacks to left of right-hand hipped end. Single depth, 3-cell with wide hallway. 4-room unheated. Staircase and further in projection to rear to form T-shape. 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 5-window front. Ground floor with wide 8-pane sash on left of partly glazed C19 door. Wide 4-light C20 casement without glazing bars to right. First floor two 4-pane sashes, 2-light casement with glazing bars. Further 4-pane sash and 2-light casement with glazing bars. Roof has been raised at eaves and ridge. Partly blocked fireplace with chamfered timber lintel in room to right of hallway, originally kitchen. Late C17 staircase with wavy flat balusters and moulded rail. Partly renewed. Some earlier C18 timbers remain. Original roof timbers removed. Outbuilding, originally stable and loft with cartshed projecting forward from left- hand end. Rubble stone and cob upper walls. Asbestos slate roof with gabled ends. Brick segmental arches with stone keys to openings.
