Description

Myrtle Cottage is a late 18th-century building located on St Peter's Hill in Newlyn. The cottage features a brick façade with a granite plinth, string course, and quoins. It has a slate roof with gable ends and a wooden eaves cornice adorned with triglyphs, rosettes, and dentils. The front of the cottage includes two 2-storey bow windows and a central doorcase supported by fluted wooden Doric half columns, topped with a slightly bowed entablature above a semi-arched doorway. The sides and rear of the building are constructed of uncoursed rubble, which is partly colour-washed and partly stuccoed. The west side is built against the ground, revealing only the top half of the first floor. Inside, there is a staircase, fireplaces, and panelled doors.
