Description

This is a pair of gate-piers and a flanking wall located at the northeast entrance to Hengar, dating from around the 17th century. The structure is made of stone rubble and granite. The gate-piers are square in plan; the right-hand pier is constructed from granite ashlar and features a moulded base, a curved neck, and a ball finial. The left-hand pier has been rebuilt in stone rubble but retains a granite ashlar curved neck and ball finial. The flanking quadrant walls are also made of stone rubble and are likely partly rebuilt in the 20th century.
