Description

The Bar Terrace comprises two similar early 19th-century houses located on Bar Road, Falmouth. The houses are constructed of painted brick with a granite plinth, granite sills, keyblocks over the flat arches, and a mid-floor string course. Number 2 has an original slurried scantle slate roof to the right, while Number 1 has a dry slate roof. Brick end stacks and two hipped roof dormers are present on Number 1. The buildings have a double-depth plan and a 7-window overall range.

Number 1 features a 4-window front with a doorway situated to the right of centre. It has 20th-century 16-pane horned sash windows and a 20th-century glazed door. Number 2 has a doorway slightly right of centre, and retains its original 16-pane hornless sash windows, as well as an old glazed and panelled door. Both houses feature original distyle Doric porches with fluted columns, dentilled friezes, and flat cornices. The doorways are round-arched and adorned with fine anthemion fanlights of differing designs, approached by granite steps.

The interior of Number 1 retains moulded door architraves with corner blocks and roundels, as well as an original staircase with a later handrail.
