Description

This is an 18th-century lime kiln located in Millbrook. It is constructed from slatestone rubble with granite lintels and supports for the fire door openings. The kiln is rectangular, measuring about 28 feet square and 15 feet high, and is built into a bank. The walls have a slight batter. It features a single kiln with access arches that have semicircular heads on both the east and west sides. An additional lean-to shed has been added to the east wall, and the roof line and sockets suggest that a similar shed once existed on the west side.
