Description
This is a detached chimney built around 1829, located at the Leeds Shaft of Great Work Mine. The chimney features a first stage made of granite rubble with a dressed granite collar, while the upper stages are constructed of brick. The stack is round in plan and tapers at the lower stage, topped by two straight brick upper stages that diminish in width, with roll-moulded collars between them. This chimney is a rare and virtually complete example of an early 19th-century stack. A contemporary engine house is located nearby.
