Description
The Gate House, built between 1934 and 1939, is a two-storey structure made of local stone rubble and whitewashed. It is situated on a sloping site and features an arcaded basement. The building has a steep slate roof with gable ends and includes a round stair turret. It is characterized by tall, narrow, round-arched windows that have simple bowed iron balconies, as well as tall French windows on the ground floor that are fitted with panelled shutters. Inside, there is a room with a very high ceiling supported by thick joists, which were painted by the architect, and a narrow tapering hood over the fireplace. The building has an irregular plan, with a long two-storey wing added in 1966.
