Description
Boscolla Mill is an 18th-century miller's house, possibly with an earlier core, and an adjacent house, now combined into a single dwelling. It is constructed of painted stone rubble with rendered cob to the first floor of the front walls. The roof is of scantle slate, double-span with gable ends, the left-hand gable forming a party wall with a neighbouring property. Brick chimneys are visible over the right-hand gable and at the gable ends, with an asbestos slate roof covering the main part of the house to the right.
The main part of the house to the east has a plan of two rooms flanking a wide central passage leading to a central stair. The adjacent house to the left projects forward and features two smaller front rooms, also flanking a passage, with a two-storey service range to the rear under a parallel roof. A further building adjoins that house to the left. The south front features two windows to the left, and a wider, symmetrical three-window front to the main house, which is set back. The central doorway may contain an original four-panel door, and the window openings have 20th-century 2-light casements. The front of the left-hand house presents a nearly symmetrical facade with a central doorway.
The interior, although not inspected, includes an original 18th-century T-stair in the entrance hall, alongside pine muntin and plank partitions.
