Description
Winch House is a building from the mid-19th century located at Mullion Cove. It is constructed from serpentine stone rubble with large rubble quoins and timber lintels above the openings. The roof is a renewed slate hipped design with clay ridge tiles. The building has two storeys and features an asymmetrical layout.
On the west side, there is a two-light casement window with glazing bars, featuring six panes per sash on the left side. The first floor has a central two-light casement window with lapped glass. Stone steps on the right lead up to the south arm of the harbour. The north side has a double timber planked door on the left and a two-light casement window on the right. There is an opening below for a winch, and a timber sash window with three panes per sash is located in the centre of the first floor.
Winch House is positioned at the top of the slip on the east side of Mullion harbour, and there is a later iron winch on a stone plinth adjacent to the west side. The building is included for its group value.
