Description

The structure comprises four flights of steps, niches, and a memorial plaque, dating from 1865 and 1881. The steps are constructed of pennant stone, with limestone ashlar detailing. There are four flights of 49 steps each. The top flight is flanked by opposing rows of six semicircular-arched niches, each protected by a weathering moulding. A square plaque, surmounted by a panel dated 1881, is positioned above the southern set of niches. This plaque features flanking consoles and an inscription stating "Stepped 1669, rebuilt 1865," and lists the names of those involved, alongside the name “Oveene Street”.
