Description

A pair of attached houses, now shops and offices, built in the early 19th century and restored in the late 20th century. The houses are rendered with a pantile hipped roof. They have single rooms to the front and back, with a central, lateral winder staircase. Each house is three storeys high, with an attic and a basement, and has a two-window range. Modern shop fronts now feature central doorways and facias, topped by a parapet. Number 56 has 6/6-pane sash windows and a small hipped dormer, while Number 54 has plate-glass sashes. The interior features a rebuilt, lateral dogleg winder staircase.
