Description

The Old Halt is a house located in Bristol, originally built in the mid-18th century with a mid-19th century extension and heavily restored in the 20th century. The structure is made of rubble with limestone dressings and features a slate hipped roof. It has an L-shaped double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall, comprising a four-window range with a three-window extension.

The symmetrical front of the house has a slightly projecting center and a left-hand extension. A full-height porch features an open semicircular doorway with rusticated voussoirs, along with a segmental-headed doorway that has a ridged door and a fanlight above. A drip cornice creates a small pediment at the top, beneath which is a raised balustrade and a lantern. To the left, there is a Venetian ground-floor window, and first-floor brick lunettes flank the porch, while the right side displays various 20th-century windows. The rendered extension has segmental-headed windows with flat architraves and sashes that include margin bars. The interior has not been inspected.
