Description
The plinth and railings around Dowry Square gardens in Bristol date from the mid-18th century. They are made of cast copper-slag blocks and wrought iron. The design features a moulded coping-stone plinth topped with spear-headed railings. Dowry Square was designed by George Tully in 1720, with construction continuing until 1750. The use of slag blocks for the plinth is quite rare.
