Description

Cretehill House is a late 18th-century house located on Cote House Lane in Stoke Bishop, Bristol. The building is constructed of stucco with limestone dressings, featuring end stacks and a slate mansard roof. It is designed with a double-depth plan and represents a Mid Georgian style.

The main facade is three windows wide, displaying pilasters, a cornice, and a parapet. The central section projects forward, featuring an early 19th-century portico with paired Doric columns supporting an entablature adorned with a frieze of paterae and bucrania. This portico sits above a wide, semicircular arched doorway surmounted by a plate-glass fanlight, with flanking windows. Late 19th-century canted bays are present on either side of the main part of the facade, accommodating 8/8-pane sashes. The first floor also features 8/8-pane sashes within moulded, keyed architraves. The roofline is punctuated by three cambered-headed dormers. The interior of the house was not inspected at the time of listing.
