Description
There are two chest tombs located approximately 15 meters south of the east end of the Parish Church of Canford Magna. These tombs date from the mid to late 18th century and are made of limestone ashlar with marble panels. The sides of the tombs feature incised oval and rectangular panels, along with moulded tops. The southern tomb has sides with end sections that include oval panels adorned with an acanthus leaf pattern and a rectangular sunken panel. The northern tomb is much simpler in design and is included for its group value. Both tombs have faded inscriptions that commemorate members of the Hart family.
