Description
Part of a former mausoleum, now used as a stage in Priory Gardens, was built in 1783 and is said to have been moved from the churchyard and re-erected around 1803. This 18th-century Gothic structure features a plastered facade with a central section that is advanced under an ogee pediment, topped with obelisks as finials. The building is two storeys high and has blind Gothic arcading beneath the pediment, which is enclosed in a larger Gothic arch. Below this is a string course, followed by a round-arched arcade and a plinth. The flanking recessed sections each contain a round-arched doorway, with the eastern doorway being blind and featuring a string course at the impost height. Above, there is a blind round recess with an architrave and outer pilasters. The boundary walls of Priory Gardens form a group with this stage in the gardens.
