Description
The memorial cross, located approximately 11 metres north of the Church of All Saints, was erected in 1907 and designed by Crossland McClure. It is made of pale brown granite and features a cast bronze sculpture. The cross has a tapered base and shaft, with the bronze sculpture at the top depicting a soul being received into Heaven. Below the sculpture is an inscription that includes a quotation from the Creed, along with a memorial to James Thomas Simpson, who died on 27 December 1907 at the age of 58. There is also an inscription on the base dedicated to Emma Winifred Simpson, who passed away on 3 April 1942 at the age of 73. This memorial cross is noted as a fine example of bronze sculpture characteristic of its period.
