Description
The George and Dragon and White Lion Inns, along with what were formerly five houses, date from around 1830. They are constructed of painted ashlar, with a mix of pantile and modern tiled roofs concealed behind a moulded cornice. The building is two storeys high. Originally, each house had two glazing-bar sash windows; No. 229 retains three such windows, all with large panes. The ground floor now features 20th-century shopfronts and pub fronts, with a mixture of 20th-century doors, some of which are sheltered by a flat stone hood supported on brackets. A plat band runs above the ground floor.
