Description

The terrace houses at 14-19 Richmond Place date from circa 1825. They are built of limestone ashlar with Welsh slate roofs. The houses follow a narrow single-depth plan, with ground floor extensions to the rear. All have entrances on the left, although number 14 may have been added to the terrace later.

Each house is three storeys high and originally had one window to the front. The roofs are plain with ashlar stacks. Number 14 has twelve late 19th-century sashes and an added gabled porch with a glazed door. Number 15 has six-over-six sashes to the ground floor, eight-over-eight above, and a small window added to the top floor, along with an added gabled porch with a glazed door. Numbers 16 and 17 are similar to number 15, with number 16 also having a small window added to the top floor, and number 17 lacking the small top-floor window. Number 18 is comparable to number 17, but with all sashes being six-over-six. Number 19 has plain sashes. The rear elevations have ground floor extensions. Rear walls are of rubble construction with ashlar dressings and various windows.

The interior of number 17, which was inspected, features a steep, narrow winding staircase built against the front wall.
