Description
No. 7, Mount Beacon, is a mid-19th century house in an irregular terrace on the west side of Beacon Hill. The building is constructed of limestone rubble with freestone dressings. The plan is double depth. The three-story house with a lower ground floor has a four-window front. A low, coped parapet rises above a gable and over paired windows at the centre of the second floor and lower ground floor. The first and upper ground floors feature a hipped lead roof to a shallow, canted bay with diagonal planking to the aprons and corbels. To the right of the building are steps and elaborate, wreathed cast iron railings leading to a porch with a classical style, pedimented front featuring paterae to the triglyph frieze. The nine-panel front door has three rows of three panels, glazed to the top, while a similar glazed six-panel door is located to the left of the lower ground floor. The interior has not been inspected.
