Description
The curtain wall to the north of Sutton Court features a gazebo and is a Grade II listed structure. It has a return to Sutton Court at the west corner and extends along the line of the inner bailey to the east corner. The base likely consists of 14th-century masonry, with restorations and additions from the early 18th century and between 1858 and 1860. The wall is made of random sandstone rubble in the easterly section, while the remainder is constructed from squared and coursed sandstone. There are two basket handle entrances leading to the stable yard and a tree-lined avenue. The main westerly section has 18th-century battlements, and there is a 19th-century square gazebo tower at the east corner, which features segmental headed openings and battlements.
