Description

Milestone located outside No 2 Fairfield, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of limestone and features a square pillar set into a wall that was built around 1850. The milestone has a black painted panel that is incised with the inscription "To BATH 2". This road was engineered and maintained by the Bath Turnpike Trust and saw significant improvements during the tenure of General Surveyor John Loudon McAdam from 1826 to 1836.
