Description

The railings and gates of Walcot Cemetery, located to the north of St Swithin's Church, were constructed in the mid-19th century. They are made of limestone ashlar, with cast and wrought iron elements. A dwarf stone wall supports simple spear railings, while the single and double gates feature piers made of clustered railings topped with crown caps. These railings are noted for their strong group value and likely date from around 1840, coinciding with the construction of the entrance screen to Walcot Cemetery, although they may be from a later date.
