Description
No. 1 Burton Street is a terrace house with a shop, built in the early 19th century. The shop was added in 1907 by C. Keene Oliver. The building is constructed from limestone ashlar, and the roof is not visible.
It has four storeys and three windows, all of which are sash windows. The attic storey features a central blind light, painted to resemble a twelve-pane sash, flanked by plain sashes. The first floor has a deep extended twelve-pane sash window. The shopfront, dating from the 19th century, includes pilasters and a central door, with an additional door to the right that has a transom light above it. There is a lintel with a frieze and cornice above the second floor, and a cornice, blocking course, and parapet at the attic level, with a stack located to the left. This building is part of a row that continues from No. 14 New Bond Street but is straight jointed to No. 2 on the right. The interior has not been inspected.
