Description
No. 2 and the attached vaults on New Bond Street are a terrace house and shop, now vacant above the first floor, built around 1810 with 20th-century alterations. It is likely designed by John Palmer. The front is made of limestone ashlar, while the rear is not visible. The building features a parapeted roof covered with Welsh slate and has an ashlar stack with early clay pots rising from a coped party wall shared with No. 1 New Bond Street Buildings.
The exterior consists of four storeys and a basement with a three-window front. The first floor has three six/nine-horned sash windows in plain reveals with stone sills. The second floor has two six/six-sash windows and one blind window in the center, also in plain reveals with stone sills. The third floor has two six/three-sash windows on the right with horns and one blind window in the center, all with stone sills. The ground floor features a 20th-century shopfront, and there are two panels of glass blocks in the pavement to light the basement. The building has a listel and moulded cornice over the second floor, a moulded eaves cornice, and a coped parapet. The rear elevation is not visible.
The interior has not been inspected. Historically, New Bond Street Buildings were likely built around the same time as the north side of New Bond Street, with building leases granted by the Council in 1805, based on designs by the City Architect, John Palmer.
