Description

Darlington Cottage is a house dating from around 1820. It is built of painted limestone ashlar with a double-pitched roof, featuring moulded stacks at the front, and coped gable ends which have been truncated to the left. The plan is a double-depth design with a continuous, single-storey lean-to wing to the left.

The two-storey front facade has a two-window arrangement. The windows are 20th-century horned sashes; the first floor and left wing windows have six-pane sashes, while a window to the right-of-centre has eight-pane sashes. A flat-arched recess contains a six-panel door glazed to the top, situated to the left of the main block. The building has a stopped coved cornice, a ground floor platband, a low plinth, and a coped parapet to the left wing which slightly angles down to the left. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.
