Description
This is a mid-to-late 19th century house with an entrance to the rear, situated on a sloping site that descends to the Kennet and Avon Canal. The house is constructed of limestone ashlar with a hipped slate roof, featuring a lateral stack on the front right, a central ridge, and rear wings. The building follows an L-shaped plan with a lower rear wing.
The front of the house measures three storeys and a lower ground floor, presenting an irregular four-bay façade to the street. This includes blind openings in the outermost bays. The corners of the building have stop-chamfered arrises. The second floor features two-over-two pane sash windows. A cornice encircles the first floor above the plate glass windows; the window on the left is blind, while a pair of windows are positioned on the right side. A platband sits over the barred plate glass ground floor windows.
The rear left wing, part of the L-shaped plan, has a hipped roof and two two-over-two pane sash windows to the second floor. It incorporates a parapeted canted bay featuring two plate glass sash windows; the central window is fitted with a sunblind box, while the right-hand facet is blank. The lower, two-storey rear right wing also has a hipped roof, a canted south-west corner, and plate glass windows facing south. Sunblind boxes are present on the first floor and there is a porch in the corner. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
