Description

Seymour House is a terrace house built around 1850. It is constructed from limestone ashlar, with the roof not visible behind the parapet. The building has two storeys and features two windows: an eight-pane sash window on the first floor and paired plain sash windows with horizontal bars on the ground floor, all set in chamfered stopped surrounds. The entrance consists of a four-panel door accessed by five stone steps, topped with a round-edged head on brackets. Additional architectural details include a platband, lintel, cornice blocking course, and a parapet, with chimney stacks located on the left and front right. The interior has not been inspected. Seymour House is noted for being one of the more intact early Victorian houses on the street, maintaining an elegant facade. Its view to the south across gardens towards the River Avon, as shown on Cotterell’s map of 1852, was significantly changed by the construction of Green Park Station by the Midland Railway in 1869. The house is included for its group value.
