Description

Oldfield Park Baptist Church and the attached Sunday School is a building constructed from limestone ashlar with tiled roofs. The church has a rectangular plan, with the main structure located behind an entrance vestibule that includes offices at the rear. The Sunday School extends perpendicularly to the south.

The exterior features a tripartite entrance front consisting of three bays topped by a pediment. The central doorway, which is pedimented, is set within a tall channelled recess that rises through the cornice, and there is an arched window above the door. Flanking the central bay are two additional bays framed by Corinthian pilasters, each containing arched windows with corniced heads. The returns of the building are single bays, also framed by Corinthian pilasters, and each has one window. The side elevations display five bays between the returns, featuring two storeys of plain two-light windows with stone mullions, with the upper range being taller. On the south elevation, the left-hand bay is hidden by the projecting Sunday School, which has a three-bay pedimented entrance without an order. The central door has a corniced head and an arched light above, with sash windows and corniced heads on either side. There is a single-bay lower wing with gabled roofs on either side, which contain single, two-light mullioned windows. The side elevations of the Sunday School have five windows, along with two large, pedimented dormers above.

The interior has not been inspected but is reported to have galleries and to be little altered.
