Description
Rosemount Cottage and Ingledene is a symmetrical pair of terrace houses built in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. The houses are constructed from limestone ashlar, and their roofs are not visible, but they feature moulded stacks at the gable ends. Each house has a double depth plan and stands two storeys tall with basements, displaying a two-window range. The windows are plate glass sash, and the facade includes a continuous parapet, a frieze, a sill band on the first floor, and a platband on the ground floor. The outer sections of the houses step forward, with a slightly pedimented parapet in the center. The central, set-back parts feature six-panel doors with Regency style trellised porches. The porch for Rosemount, on the left, has a hipped swept canopy, while Ingledene has a cyma sloping hood and cast iron crested balconettes on the upper windows. Between the doors, a path and steps lead down to a semicircular archway under the party wall that provides access to the rear. The interiors have not been inspected.
