Description
The Malt House is a detached house built around the 1720s to 1730s. It features ashlar stonework and a stone slate roof, which is set behind a moulded parapet and a moulded cornice. The building has ashlar stacks with moulded caps and stands two storeys tall with attics in hipped dormers. Located on a corner site, it has three windows on one side and two on the other, all fitted with glazing bar sashes. There is a plain band above the ground floor and a six-panel door that is framed by a moulded surround and topped with a pediment supported by consoles.
Inside, the ground floor north-east room has fielded panelling along the dado, an egg and dart moulded cornice, and a moulded fire surround flanked by round-headed cupboards featuring fluted Ionic pilasters and cut bracket shelves. The south-west room includes a large ashlar fireplace with an ovolo moulded surround.
