Description
The Rockshute tomb in Smallcombe Cemetery is a chest tomb dating from around 1873, constructed from limestone and designed in an early 18th-century style. It features a plinth and a chest with sunk panels, which are supported by large consoles at either end. The tomb has a cavetto cornice and a slab top that is pedimented on the long sides. There is a broken marble panel on the top, which includes an inscription commemorating Thomas Rockshute, who died in 1873. This tomb represents an unusual style for its date.
