Description

A pair of terrace houses and shops dating from the 1880s to 1890s. The buildings are constructed from machine-cut limestone ashlar with an unseen roof and a large moulded brick stack on a stone base to the shared party wall. Number 9, on the right, is three storeys and has a two-window front. Number 10, to the left, is also three storeys with an attic and basement, and a three-window front. Both houses share a continuous moulded parapet, cornice, and a ground floor platband. A lintel frieze rises as label moulds over the second-floor windows. The upper floors contain two-pane sash windows, paired to the right of Number 9 and paired to the right of Number 10. At ground floor level, flanking the party wall, are two shop windows with cornices to the fascias, moulded lintels supported by panelled pilasters on moulded sills, and two rows of four panes in each window. There are four-panel doors with overlights, one to the right of Number 9, one to the left of Number 10, and a third to the far left, providing access to the upper floors. The interiors have not been inspected.
