Description
The King Walter monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 3 metres southeast of the south chapel of the Church of St. Michael. It dates from the 18th century and is made of limestone, with a later sandstone top. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge and a plain plinth. It has corner pilasters that are carved with foliage, and the cornice is broken forward over the pilasters. The east side of the tomb displays rich carvings, including flowers, a scallop shell, and a beast. Most of the inscriptions have worn away, but the name "King Walter" remains legible.
