Description

Ladymead House is an early to mid-19th century housing association building, originally a private house. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a slate roof hidden behind a parapet. The west elevation features a single bay and two storeys. The ground floor is blind, surmounted by a string course. Above is a six over six hornless timber sash window, a shallow fascia, cornice, and parapet. Attached to the north is a tall limestone ashlar wall enclosing a small courtyard. This wall has a raised narrow string course and simple cornice/coping, and a bold central entrance with an architrave and closed pediment decorated with modillions. The north courtyard elevation is two storeys and four bays, with an offset full-height bay containing three four over four timber sash windows on each floor. The ground floor is rusticated, with a string course, shallow fascia, cornice, and parapet above. A panelled timber door is located to the east of the bay window. The west courtyard elevation is two storeys and one bay containing a six over six hornless timber sash window on each floor, with a string course at the first floor, shallow fascia, cornice, and parapet above.
