Shops with accommodation over. Mid C19. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, painted on ground floor, roofs not visible from street. PLAN: Single width double depth stepped terrace built with shops, entrances to left. EXTERIOR: Three storeys, single bay wide. Each house has shopfront, Nos 1, 4 and 6 are probably original, No.1 was public house. No.5 possibly late C19, and Nos 2 and 3 are modern. Nos 3, 4 and 5 all good and unaltered examples. No.3 has twelve-light window with timber mullions and transom. No.5 has four-light window with delicate mullions. No.6 has eight-light window, fascias with console brackets. Sill band at first floor level. Eight/eight sashes, first floor ones have cornice head with console brackets. Separate cornice to each house as terrace stepped up from No.1 on right. Stack with pots to right of each house. Toothing on end wall of No.6 denoting that terrace was intended to continue further. Rear elevation not seen. INTERIOR: Not inspected. HISTORY: No.1 was The White Lion Inn at some time.
