Description
Eldon House Public House is a terrace of three houses, a shop, and a public house built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a party wall and exterior stacks, although the roof is not visible. The building has a double-depth plan and is designed in a late Georgian style, standing three storeys high with a one-window range.
The façade is enhanced by pilaster recesses leading to a coped parapet, with doorways on the left side that have six-panel doors. The public house section has a central doorway and plate-glass windows, with paired consoles supporting a fascia and cornice. There are lateral and rear exterior stacks on the left side. Notably, No. 5 features a cornice at the ground floor, while No. 6 has an early 19th-century shop front that includes panels separating a left-hand doorway from a 24-pane shop window.
The windows are tripartite timber designs with shallow cambered heads, featuring 2/2-pane sashes and shallow recessed surrounds. Additionally, there is a canted two-storey bay on the left return, which includes 6/6-pane and flanking 4/4-pane sashes. The interiors have not been inspected.
