Description
Broadfield Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1719, with mid-19th century remodeling. It is constructed of rubble with freestone dressings and features stone slate and asbestos slate roofs. The building is in an L-plan layout, with a front elevation of two storeys and overhanging bracketed eaves. On the ground floor, there are two three-light casement windows with chamfered mullions and surrounds, which are topped with dripmoulds. An off-centre panelled door is located under a flat stone hood supported by brackets.
The rear wing is also two storeys tall and includes a cellar, featuring three two- and three-light casement windows with chamfered and rebated mullions and surrounds. There is an off-centre studded plank door with strap hinges that have open scroll ends, as well as a later 19th century ashlar porch. A single storey wing is present on the left side, and a datestone is located in the gable end.
Inside, the first floor rooms of the front wing have bolection moulded fire surrounds, with the one on the right featuring a moulded mantelshelf.
