Description

A semi-detached pair of cottages, Numbers 9 and 10 New Cottages, were built in 1919 as part of a planned layout. The ground floor is constructed of sandstone snecked rubble with ashlar dressings, while the first floor is timber-framed with close-studding, arched braces, and plastered infill panels. The roof is hipped, mainly tiled with lower courses of Horsham stone slabs, and incorporates three tall brick stacks with sandstone bases. The cottages are two storeys high with four windows to the front. They have mullioned windows with leaded lights. The side elevations feature doorcases with wooden hoods supported on brackets. An attached, contemporary one-storey outbuilding in sandstone with a tiled roof is located at the rear. A crest displaying the letter "C," a crown, and the date 1919 is present on the side elevation. Numbers 1 and 2 New Cottages are designed as a mirror image of this building.
