Description

A pair of semi-detached cottages, built in 1919 as part of a planned layout. The ground floor is constructed of sandstone snecked rubble with ashlar dressings. The first floor is timber-framed, featuring close-studding, arched braces, and plastered infill. The roof is hipped, with mainly tiled covering and lower courses of Horsham stone slabs. Three tall brick stacks with sandstone bases are present. The cottages are two storeys high, with four windows to the front. They have mullioned windows with leaded lights. The side elevations feature doorcases with wooden hoods supported by brackets. A contemporary one-storey sandstone outbuilding with a tiled roof is attached to the rear. Numbers 9 and 10 New Cottages are a mirror image of this building.
