Description
The Screen and two gateways to the west of Worth Abbey were built in 1922 and serve as a striking feature at the end of the carriage drive, where it splits to the north and south. The gateways are designed to be visually impressive, with two carriage entrances that angle outward. Each entrance is marked by octagonal stone piers topped with moulded cornices and obelisks. These piers support wrought-iron double gates that are adorned with an elaborate overthrow featuring coronets. The gateways are connected by a curved screen made of a low stone wall topped with an iron railing, which is divided into five sections, each section flanked by stone columns.
