Description

Clematis Cottage, Court Cottage, and Harry Gough's House are a group of buildings located on the south-east side of Church Street in Steyning. They date from the 17th century or earlier and feature timber framing. Nos 19 (Clematis Cottage) and 21 (Court Cottage) have been refaced with stucco, while No 23 (Harry Gough's House) is finished in red brick with alternating grey headers. The buildings have tiled roofs and either casement or horizontally-sliding sash windows. They are two storeys tall and contain a total of four windows. Notably, No 23 has a plaque above the doorway that reads: "This is Sir Harry Gough's House, 1771."
