Description
Orwell Cottage is an L-shaped timber-framed building located on the north-east side of Steyning High Street. The north-west wing dates back to the medieval period as a hall house, while the south-west wing is a later addition or cross-wing. The entire structure was refaced in the 18th century. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring four windows. The building is constructed of red brick, with the south-west wing being tile-hung and having a gable above. The roof is modern and covered with concrete tiles. The windows include both casement and sash types, with the glazing bars still intact. The doorway is adorned with pilasters and a projecting cornice.
