Description

The Springwells Hotel, originally listed as Cuthman’s Guest House, is an 18th-century building on Steyning High Street. It is two storeys and has an attic, presenting a six-window facade with a single small dormer. The building is constructed with grey headers and red brick dressings and quoins, topped by a wooden eaves cornice. The hipped roof is covered with Horsham slabs, and the original glazing bars remain intact. Five of the first-floor windows are set within wooden surrounds, while the sixth and all ground-floor windows have shallow reveals. The ground floor features two tripartite windows; one has a curved head in the central section, and the other is a standard sash window. A later brick porch, featuring pilasters, a pediment, and a doorway with a rectangular fanlight, has been added.
